It was truly.
enjoyable.
One of the best football trips I can remember (and I go back to WVU-VT actual Southern Conference games...ended after 1964 when VPI went independent but the rivalry carried on).
Morgantown community and commerce (hotel, restaurants, stores) were all out-of-their-way hospitable. I had never been to that part of WV before (but my father was from Welch so I have a soft spot for the state and the rivalry that once was).
Because of a ticket issue I ended up sitting by myself, Hokie gear, surrounded by 'Eers. Maybe j-u-s-t a bit "chilly" at first.. but we warmed up (actually and figuratively).
Loss was tough fer sure. But when VT got the int and it looked as if the Hokies would win, I was congratulated by WV fans (alas). The WVU team played with heart. Congrats on the victory.
We all were always at ease walking around downtown and at the game.
It was a great weekend. Reminded me of simpler times that were, in a more "innocent" way, just as intense.
The drive through that part of WV was just beautiful. Appreciate the experience.
See you next year.
Hokie Hi
